The Tropical Ecology Program will be offered to a group of US college students.  Additional information in english about the forests and sites listed below can be obained through the translation option available at some search engines such as google.com.

June 19 Study in situ marine organisms
Snorkeling in Cerro Gordo Coral Reef, Vega Alta 
Wednesday, Tortuguero Natural Reserve , Vega Baja
June 20 Kayaking and hiking
Study of the reserve’s biodiversity
Thursday, Visit to El Yunque, Caribbean National Rain Forest
June 21 Visit to Mount Britton and La Mina Cascade
Hiking, bird watching and swimming
Friday, June 22 to  Toro Negro Forest (Camping)
Saturday, June 23 Day and night hiking and swimming
Explore Toro Negro River upstream
Sunday, June 24 Guilarte Forest, Adjuntas (Camping)
to Monday, June 25 Visit to Casa Pueblo Forest, Historic House
Shade Coffee Plantation Facilities
Tuesday,  Susua Forest (Camping)
June 26 Visit to historic sites in Colonial Ponce
Hiking and bird watching at Susua Forest
Wednesday, Guánica Dry Forest
June 27 Hike and bird watching
Visit to the 600 year old Guayacán tree
Visit to Caña Gorda Beach

 

From June 18 through June 21, the group will have as a home base a rustic country house in the town of Corozal. Camping sites are indicated.  Light clothing is recommended.

During our hikes and explorations we incorporate lectures and educational activities. Scheduled activities may vary due to weather or other conditions out of our control.
